These Mokume Gane dangle earrings are made from sheet comprised of 27 alternating layers of copper and brass.
The pattern on both sides was formed by rolling a pattern with the rolling mill then filing to reveal the different layers of metal. The puffed trillion shape was formed on the hydraulic press using a form I made myself.
Once finished the earrings were given a patina with liver of sulfur that increases the contrast between the copper and brass patterns. A light UV wax coating was added to help preserve the patina; note the patina may change slightly over time with wear.
The ear wires are made from anodized hypoallergenic niobium. The earrings can be reversed by gently twisting/removing them off the ear wire, taking care not to scratch the earring with the hook.
Each earring is approximately 1 1/4” long on each side.
Two pairs of ear wire guards are included to firmly secure the ear wires.
